Une Pensée pour maman
July 26, 2019 – August 17, 2019

OPENING RECEPTION: July 27, 2019, 7-9 PM

A Dedication

On June 3, 2019, Huguette Garbani, mother of artist Isabelle Garbani passed away, after struggling with heart problems for two and a half years. This exhibit was organized by the artist to honor her mother, a teacher, nature photographer, and enormous influence in Isabelle’s work. Her mother’s teaching of the crafts of knitting and crochet are a constant in Garbani’s practice. Using unorthodox materials, discarded plastics, in her knitting and crochet work, Isabelle upends craft traditions and gives the viewer pause to consider our roles as consumers in a throwaway economic system.

The photographic works of Huguette will be displayed alongside the large crocheted works of Isabelle in an exhibit that honors, nature, crafts, and the physical and emotional bonds between mother and child.

The show will run until the 17th of August, and Isabelle will be at the gallery every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 6pm, after the Friday July 26th opening.

Note: The proceeds from the sales of the Hughette Garbani photographs seen above are being generously donated to Stand4 by artist Isabelle Garbani to fund the production and free community programing of the upcoming Fall exhibition “Artifacts of Place”.

Framed photos $75.00. Unframed photos $35.
